PK<This type of fixing of the
R-time is doubly signalled in a case like Gen 38:29 with the WAYHIY
KE- meaning "and at the same time that...", stressing simultaneity.

Actually, it is the participle meshiv that gives the simultaneity. vayhi
ke- gives a backgrounded past event when used with an infinitive and
appears to be different from vayehi be- when used with the infinitive. vehi
be+infinitive is simultaneous.
