here's a tagging/encoding problem that i would like some feedback on.

the verb yd` normally would have the subject assigned the
"experiencer" semantic role, while the object the "percept" semantic
role (even though seems redundant with verbs of cognition!).

but what do you do with the verb meaning "have sex/intimate relations
with" (how would Clinton translate yd`, do you think?). is the
grammatical subject the "agent", "benefactive", "experiencer",
"instrument", "recipient" or "source"? is the grammatical object a
"benefactive", "experiencer", "goal", "patient", "recipient" or
"theme"?

hebrew syntax can be so much fun. ;-)

my own preference is just to leave off the semantic case/role tags in
this particular and similar cases. any thoughts, if you had to use the
syntactic database for your research????

cheers, V
