more to the point, i only have the time to warn that "BH,
yiqtol=vayyiqtol=present" is a dead end and to give enough info for people
to discover that themselves. apparently you haven't yet. fine. keep reading
BH. email list protocols are to be kept concise in any case. "full
refutations" require monographs and leisure time.
another clue, reinforcing the others:
have you noticed what BH does when it truly wants a "present" in the
narrative:
"vehinne varaq rodef et sisra" ju 4.22.
"vehinne isha shoxevet " ... "vehinne hagoel `over" ru 3.8, 4.1.
"vehinne yitsHaq mesaHeq et rivqa ishta" gn 26.8.
vehinne regularly has participles in narrative, or suffix verbs,
but where are the prefix verbs in narrative with vehinne?
(the one example known to me out of 300xx is gn 37.7, evidently describing
an ongoing series of events in the past, and is clearly in the order of an
example that proves a rule.)
