did you get the "verbless clause in bh" book yet?
if so, did you notice the article by walter gross?

he argues at length that the "compound nominal clause"
[i.e. analyzing a finite-verb clause as a 'nominal clause'
when it has something other than a finite verb at the beginning]
scrambles issues.
as a category it should be "dismissed from hebrew studies entirely".

strong words, but they make eminent sense within general linguistics.

meanwhile, alviero niccacci presents a parallel article that can be classed
as a rebuttal.

is there a consensus?
