What an info-deficient, narrow minded viewpoint. Alcohol fuel may not be the best biofuel
product but the point is to do _something_ to create alternate fuels and thereby help to
limit the release of harmful greenhouse gasses. It is silly to buy into biofuel crop production without
developing a complete strategy for fertilizing those crops, like with otherwise wasted quarry rock dusts,
livestock manure and municipal waste, sewage and landfill. - LL

VIEWPOINT
Jeffrey A McNeely

Biofuels could end up damaging the natural world rather than saving it from global warming, argues Jeff McNeely in the
Green Room. Better policies, better science and genetic modification, he says, can all contribute to a greener biofuels
revolution.
