A Thai soldier (R) aims an anesthetic dart at monkeys in Lopburi province, 150 km (93 miles) east of Bangkok October 30, 2002. Almost 300 monkeys living at a palace in Lopburi suffer from a skin disease, and Thai soldiers are currently sedating them with anesthetics so they can tend to their disease. The monkeys and the area in which they exist attract 3,000-4,000 tourists each day, and local authorities intend to tackle the problem quickly to keep it a popular tourist attraction.
