Hi Wheatsville friends!

I forgot to tell you that Wheatsville is sponsoring the showing of the documentyary the Future of Food at the Alamo downtown this week. This Sunday at 7 pm, the director Deborah Koons Garcia will be attending the showings at the Alamo. I'll be there before the movie telling attendees about Wheatsville. If you haven't seen this film, this is your chance to see it with the director in person!

Here is the link to the Alamo web-site where you can see the trailer...

Read on for a description of the film...

THE FUTURE OF FOOD
D. Deborah Koons Garcia 2004 88min. 35mm  THE FUTURE OF FOOD examines the unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foods that have quietly filled U.S. grocery store shelves for the past decade. From the prairies of Saskatchewan, Canada to the fields of Oaxaca, Mexico, this film gives a voice to farmers whose lives and livelihoods have been negatively impacted by this new technology. The health implications, government policies and push towards globalization are all part of the reason why many people are alarmed about the introduction of genetically altered crops into our food supply. THE FUTURE OF FOOD examines the complex web of market and political forces that are changing what we eat as huge multinational corporations seek to control the world's food system. THE FUTURE OF FOOD reveals that there is a revolution going on in the farm fields and on the dinner tables of America, a revolution that is transforming the very nature of the food we eat.

DIRECTOR DEBORAH KOONS GARCIA IN PERSON JUNE 12th!
It plays again Wednesday and Thursday at 7 pm.

Hope to see you there on Sunday!!!
