Considering the intended users of smgl, is this really needed?

iirc "make install" handles lilo.conf but not grub's menu.lst. Can a grub user
verify this?

I started updating netconf to make it write a valid /etc/network/interfaces
file but on IRC i was told that was a waste of time as the smgl users can
configure their networking manually.

Shall I continue my work on netconf or does anyone know of an existing tool to
replace it with?

I agree, even if only as an example.
Maybe add an example (commented out) for static networking.

That should get 99% of the 1st time users online pretty quickly.

That would be basesystem + everything one could need to get the box booting
and
network connectivity. I'm thinking about the -tools and -progs spells for the
different filesystems, lvm, nfs and stuff like that. Those should be available
on the iso and, depending on what the SA chooses to use, also on the installed
system.

Or don't install them in the 1st place if the SA has no need for them.
What's available on the iso does not need to be identical to what's installed
on the box after install.

For example, if the SA makes use of only ext3, the iso doesn't need to install
xfs* reiser* and other spells.

Can we look for, or make an educated guess about, the spells needed during
install? Like checking mounted filesystems, use of lvm and things like that?
This way we keep the installation as small as possible while keeping the iso
usable in pretty much every scenario.

All the comments are just IMHO :)
