Perhaps rather than trying to change the behaviour patterns of the
spiders with negative feedback, try changing the behaviour of the people
with positive feedback: Offer incentives for the live capture of
spiders; either on a per head bounty basis or a prize for the person
catching the highest number of live spiders each week (e.g. getting to
leave an hour early on Friday or a bottle of wine etc). The end-of-week
option has the advantage of being a fixed cost: paying-out per capture
can lead to seasonal budget blow-outs. If all else fails, explain to
female staff that, by screaming and panicking every time they see a
spider, they are perpetuating role-stereotypes forced upon them by the
behaviour of their mothers (and others). -Some people will believe
anything. Or, to paraphrase Bill: "You don't have an excess of spiders,
you have a shortage of schmucks".

So far the solutions are citrus scent on all door jambs, osage orange
broken up & spread outside the door, same with black walnuts, &
french marigold barriers. & we're talking a lot of wolf spiders,
maybe not armies, but at least patrols. You've reminded me that I
should try to convince the operations people that the spiders could
be trapped & released somewhere else (like in my own garden) because
I'm pretty sure they are being flushed down the toilet or stomped on.
