Kathyann,

The best resource for bee dance patterns is Karl Von Frisch's "The Dance
Language and Orientation of Bees". I first read it 25 years ago and have
reread it twice since. It is a bit dry, but highly informative. So far it
has helped me understand my bees almost as well as my interactions with
them. Lawrence, Thanks for all the bee information. It is helping us move
forward for the new season with new hives.

Speaking of a bit dry, Toby this is addressed to you. After you mentioned
reading "First Farmers" I ordered it and am getting toward the end. It is
dry and academic, but very informative. One of my professor friends looked
at it and was stunned such a cretin as myself would read it for pleasure. He
asked if I just looked at the pictures. I got mad and pointed out that the
graphs and maps were not all that decipherable. He then read me a
classically wordy line that he did not understand at all and I did my best
to translate it into a form of English that hopefully even an academic could
comprehend. Anyway, thanks for the recommendation. I've thoroughly enjoyed
the book. Very enlightening!

Kevin
