Is anyone familiar with what makes a coating of webs over the trunk and
branches of oak trees? Every one of my oaks has it to some degree and I'd
like to know if the trees are in danger. (live oak & water oak)

Bagworms? I have them on persimmons and river birches.

Some of my white ash trees have a white coating of some fungus or scale
surrounding segments of some of the branches - looks like icing on a cake -
it can be peeled off & is about 1/16' - 1/8" thick.
