Another development on this front is the Glockemann Water Pump developed by Glockemann Peck Engineering in South East Australia. It works on similar principles to the ram pump although it is cheaper, almost silent and more efficient. Ralph Glockemann lives near Magic Mountain in South Eastern New South Wales and works closely with long standing Permaculture Designer Hugh Gravestein. I first saw a working prototype at Ralph's property in 1993 and it worked wonderfully well. Their ad in Earth Garden Magazine details the following:
  • Reliable water powered water pumping
  • Easy to operate
  • No fuel costs
  • Pumps to a head of 200 metres
  • Versatile
  • Install in any creek or river
  • Runs quietly
  • Minimal maintenance
  • Low supply drop, as little as half a metre
