Just a brief check-in before we all become incommunicado over
Thanksgiving:

1. So it appears that we have official webmaster, thank you John H.! And
please, if you feel that you are performing a considerable amount of
work, let us know so that I can include you in the grant.

2. Lawrence and I both like the idea of writing a non-technical summary
of the manner in which information will be organized – for our purposes
and to post on our website (and perhaps for grantors as well!). Chad,
would you be willing to write this? Or, if you explain the informational
architecture to me clearly, I can write it myself.

3. Lawrence and I also both liked the idea of making a list of Pc-centric
characteristics (which you will be able to search by, learn about, and
potentially sort by as well). Chad, would you like to make the first
attempt, and we can add to the list? Also for our purposes, the website,
and perhaps for grantors.

4. To all the techies in the house – would it be possible to ‘sort
results’ by multiple characteristics? I prefer Lawrences tree to my cube
– stick to the metaphor, of course!

5. In his update, Johns said that nothing he’s working on will affect/
change the course of the project – but what about switching from Bugzilla
to Scarab? Especially if Ibiblio doesn’t host Scarab (oh no, not this
again…).

6. I’ve received responses to the Lindbergh letter from John and Chad.
Rich, can you send me yours when you get the chance please?

On a final note, perhaps I can only speak for myself when I say this, but
I feel that we’ve been in somewhat of an incubation mode for a while.
Getting things ready to get started, without actually getting into full
gear (although I know you’ve been working *hard* Chad!). And now with
Thanksgiving and the end of the year coming up, there will be more
distractions.

So I wanted to let you all know that I’m really looking forward to
spending considerably more time on hg (again) soon – really sprucing up
the website, researching IE, brainstorming the UI and user experience,
applying for more grants, etc. Eager and excited. That’s where I’m at.

Ok, have a Lovely Thanksgiving weekend…

peace
*Stephanie
