I tried that my first year with a couple of extra frames. Just enough honey came out to make a mess, but a very low % of what was in the comb. Even with some encouragement by warming a bit, a poor experience.

The cut comb is unwired comb so the extractor would destroy it, would it not? Am I missing something? Along the lines of your suggestion, I was thinking I could use a scratcher to uncap and just gravity drain from each side of a frame, then save the comb?

Why not use a honey extractor and save the comb?

I harvest honey exclusively from “cut comb” in medium frames. I take wide mouth quart jars and put the comb into it; one medium frame does about 4 jars. I then need honey to fill the jar so I’ve been just using my hands to squish the honey out of some additional comb, then let it drip overnight using a colander. From there, the bees clean everything up.
My question is, is there a device for squishing honey comb to get the honey separated from the wax?
Thanks….
