Did you remember to pack a nuc with some stinky old comb before going off to
work today? Then you probably want to sign up for OCBASwarm Patrol.
(Expecting the 1st call could be any day now...)

How it works:

When the OCBA receives word of a swarm, I will contact (email & text) the
folks who are within their desired radius of the swarm. I'll pass on the
location to the 1st responder; remember there's usually no telling how long
the swarm as been in a particular location or how long they'll be there.
Therefore, rapid response (having your swarm gear ready to go [even with
you]) is key to finding the swarm where it was last noticed. Bear in mind,
some swarms are a lot easier to hive than others. (Some are a foot off the
ground, others are higher....Are you comfortable on a ladder?) (One of the
trickiest I've encountered, was in a mailbox!)

As the season progresses, I'll try to see that everyone on the list gets a
shot at hiving a swarm.

Here's what I need from folks interested in swarms:
1) Make sure you've paid your 2015 OCBA membership dues ($5). [You're
encouraged to join the NCSBA ($15). That's a cool twenty dollar bill for a
colony of honeybees; a bargain.]
2) email me, include: your name
- phone #
- Area/distance your willing to travel to get
a swarm
- Maximum height your comfortable with
dealing with a swarm
- Days &/or times of day you can
realistically breakaway to catch a swarm

Right on, let's wrangle some bees, hive some swarms,
- Chris Richmond
