I agree Geneva,
There were about 5-6 of us from the OCBA at the recent CNG workshop and I agree this will be a great starting point. I was going to suggest we start there to the group and see what they felt. A few more may have been there that are in the bee school, but I did not recoginize them. I also like this as a reference point because it will help those following along understand the goals and guide lines.
Do you see this "CNG" Apairy (group) being an arm of the OCBA or a seperate group as we move forward?
I have CNG status here at our place w/ the only last detail being the inspection next month. So i can help the group obtain that status at the new site or sites after things get going.
tks,
marty

TomI agree there needs to be clarification with that term CNG, meaning Certified Naturally Grown, has a very clear standard of what that means in terms of beekeeping, which is easily located on the web but I think "chemical free' is a little vague. If we are going to create an alternative beekeeping apiary, I suggest we work within the format of CNG.thanksGenevaOn Feb 25, 2012, at 6:21 PM, Thomas Grizzle wrote:_________________________________________What is meant by this terminology? Does this mean you don’t treat the various adverse conditions of the hive with pesticides? I suppose there may be a (long) list of things and/or practices that are banned if you are going “chemical free”.Thanks…Tom Grizzle
