Hi Randall,
Thanks for your help. Sorry it has taken me so long to respond!

There is a lot of worker brood; just more drone brood than i thought should be around. I'll take some time and keep an eye on the hive and I'll let you know how it works out.

Thanks so much!

Jenn,

Is this a new hive started from a package?
Is there also a lot of worker brood?

I've found that a brand new queen will sometimes take a little time to start laying right. If you've got a lot of worker brood (so you know you have a mated laying queen), I would give her a little more time to see if things get sorted out.

If ALL you have is drone brood, then you've got a problem.

Hi fellow beekeepers,

Went into the hive today and noticed there were a lot of drones and a significant amount of drone brood as well as capped brood, eggs and larvae. We didn't see the queen, but didn't spend too much time looking for her either. Everything else seems to be ok. The question is, should I be worried or is this normal?

Thanks for your help!
