Sounds more like yellow jackets to me, but maybe someone could stop by for a look see.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it too late to try and collect them?

Subject: Swarm Question

Hi,

I have a question.  Today I noticed what look like honey bees, many of them, coming and going from a opening in some landscaping timbers in my yard.  I've never noticed them before (and would have, I think, as it is a well-traveled area of my yard).  Is this related to the coming cold weather (i.e. are they preparing to over-winter underground) ?  I know little about bees so please excuse my ignorance.  Should they be moved, left in peace, or something else ?

Also, since I live in Durham, is there a more local contact for me ?

Thanks for any information.
