Stillwater SAR did indeed put on a fantastic rendezvous.  The whole town was in support of the event and even set a week aside to recognize it as SAR week in support of the event. Some of the trainings were as follows;

Skip Soffel taught searchers survival class and field,  Far from home Alzheimer class, Kirk Waggoner taught the Ropes class, patient packaging, whitewater rescue, map and compass and GPS, Joel Hardin’s man tracking class and field, lost person behavior, reflex tasking, Kimberly Kelly taught Human decomp and K-9 handlers.

The only down side to this was too many great classes and too little time to go to all the ones you wanted to go to.

Stillwater was able to put this together, with a t-shirt for only $25.00.  After the classes there was a competition including ropes, packaging, maps, and simulated water rescue for a $200.00 cash prize.  Great training idea for bringing specialty groups together and building teamwork within your unit.

All in all one of the best events outside of Washington’s rendezvous event.  The vendors included representatives from SAR.com, and Rescue international, and Whitewater Rescue Institute to name a few.  They did a fantastic job on building from last year’s event, and Flathead County will host the next Rendezvous.  If this keeps building at this rate, this may be an event you might not want to miss in the years to come.

Thanks again, Crystal and the Stillwater SAR unit.

Chris Noon, Vice President Madison County SAR; Ruby Valley Unit
