You are correct, the rendezvous was a great resource, unfortunately non of us could make it.

I have heard nothing but great things about Montana’s Annual SAR Rendezvous.  Did you attend this year’s rendezvous that was hosted by Stillwater County SAR in Columbus Montana? I heard that hundred of volunteer SAR responder from across the State attended and that many courses were booked to capacity.

I have joined the group, and what I know of SAR around the country there are several areas at least within the US, where there is no choice to rely on anything other then volunteers.  In Montana, volunteer fire departments as well as SARs comprise 90% of the emergency service in the state, and are the only option in rural areas
