Linda,
Your area sounds like our summers. We have very hot and humid and very cold
and
humid weather in Illinois, USA. As someone else from the Midwest said
before,
"We have too hot and too cold." These are our seasons.

The reason we take so much time picking out winter riding clothes is exactly
as
you envision. It is hard to get on a horse -- or off -- with bulky clothes.
Our
best clothes are designed for riding, as some very nice warm clothes others
wear
are too bulky for those of us having to get on that horse. Some coats will
catch on the saddle and become very dangerous. Some boots are warm but too
wide
to get in and out of the stirrups.

Very interesting...but how do you guys get on your horses.?
Our winters are very mild and a good jumper and a dri-as a bone are usually
sufficient.
Our summer is the problem, fly veils and fly repellant for the horses...same
for
riders.
At home I ride early morning or late evening to beat the heat.
Depending on the situation I evaluate whether I will respond to a call out if
the temp is going to be extreme i.e over 35 [about 95 ].I know that when it
is
really hot,I am just as likely to get crook...which makes me a possible
liability.

cheers
