Carla

That sounds a lot like an insect problem that turns into a virus problem.
Aphids, leafhoppers, thrips and a few other insects can carry viruses that
are transmitted when they feed on your crop. The viruses then stunt and kill
the plants. Is there someone at OSU who could help you identify the problem?

Allan,
We are having the same trouble with squash. We haven't harvested enough to
bother with all summer. I've tried transplanting, and direct seeding with no
luck at all. Our cucumbers are fine, as well as the pumpkins and winter
squash. It is just the summer squash. The plants are small, the leaves turn
yellow and it dies. I grow a lot of different varieties of squash and all
of them are doing this. I've tried different locations, different fields and
the results are the same.
We've never had this problem before, and it is really hurting us at market.
