Paul, where do you live and what kind of wood do you use for your mushrooms? Have you been growing them long? Also, what do you think about using still standing, dead trees to cut up?

for shiiake,you can use any hardwood tree, they cannot
grow on conifers.logs that are thicker last longer
but... Use lenghts you can easily handle, you will be
moving them for drilling "lots of holes" and stacking.
Also stack them in open triangles much like a "w" only
tighter angles, the mushrooms sprout out on both sides
and its a pain to hop over the side to pick if you
build a square.
