Christian,

As Brian suggested, APC is pretty much the standard for
small/mid-sized UPS devices. They aren't too bad on price and most
have replaceable batteries. I bought several refurbished ones from
http://www.refurbups.com/ in the past to save a little money.

Furman, Power Inspired, and others make studio grade UPS devices if
you can't stand the fan noise. Of course, the price is premium.

Last year when my six-year old Furman F1000 batteries began to die out
(I couldn't afford to upgrade to new Furman units and didn't have time
to locate replacement batteries -- if they exist), I bought two Belkin
units from Buy.com. I think they were about $110-120 each. They have
sufficient power and do the job, but my highly attuned ears can still
hear a hum and flux of power capacitors from time to time. Still,
they are reliable and getting the job done. There were some negative
reviews for the Belkin's online, but you can find negative feedback
about nearly any product online.

Buy what you can afford and enjoy having your stuff stay online. Good luck!
