Although I'm sure they still have a presence in Utah, Novell is now
headquartered in Waltham, Mass. Now it's a question of whether you're an SCO
hater or not (they're in Lindon, about 40 miles south of SLC).

As for the "fundie" Mormons: the influence of the Mormon church is strongly
felt in the city's local politics, but Salt Lake is "only" about 40 percent
Mormon, so you wouldn't be in the minority.

I'm biased because I grew up there, but it is a beautiful city. Ditto what
Paula said about outdoor recreation.
