Not Really.

SpecOps troops from quite a few countries are inside the borders of other
countries... and by no means this means that they are at war nor that one has
invaded the other.

This is first-hand ground recon . Those troops can be doing some of those
things:

- getting hardcore evidence to show to UN Council
- getting accurate maps, pictures and/or live assessment of the status of
military centers/combat units/missile sites for future operations
- contacting locals to check the possibility for local uprising against Sadam
- you name it

Even with all the billions of $ that you put in satellites and advanced
electronics, nothing gives you a complete and real picture of what is really
going on behind enemy lines than human reconoisance.

All this has been done before by several countries to many other countries.

Do not take things out of proportion. Some journalists have no clue about
military ops. They couldn't tell between a fuel truck and an armoured
fighting vehicle even if they were hit by one.

Salut,
Josep

Has anyone read William Gibson's new book, /Pattern Recognition/?
Good reviews, but I'm debating whether to wait for it to come out
in paper.

I haven't read any good fiction in ages.

TaB

P.S. And Neal Stephenson's next, /Quicksilver/, isn't coming out until
September.
