Dear Friends,

I know we all have our own projects that could use funding, but I want to share with you the opportunity to support a great organization! Robin Van Loon is a young, dynamic visionary protecting and reforesting an ever-increasing area in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest's Tambopata Reserve.

I have spent time at Robin’s Camino Verde on the banks of the Tambopata River and am deeply impressed by his vision and commitment. He is a practitioner of permaculture and actively respecting and preserving indigenous wisdoms, successfully contributing to this ecologically rich and environmentally threatened region.

Robin has and will use funding very effectively, so your financial support will have a profound impact. If all of us just give the price of an evening’s entertainment or make a donation as someone’s holiday present, it will add up to a strong block of support for this project that is truly creating the beautiful world we hope to leave for our children and the next seven generations.

Most sincerely, Sequoya / Susan

Subject: Camino Verde in Global Giving's Open Challenge

Dear friends and supporters,

This holiday season, Camino Verde is participating in Global Giving's
"Open Challenge", which launches on November 29, 2010. What is the Open Challenge?  Leading online donation service Global Giving challenges non-profit organizations (like Camino Verde) to raise a total of at least $4,000 from at least 50 different individual donors in a period of about three weeks.

What this means is that we will need your support!  A donation of any
amount will help us to reach the goal of 50 individual donors, but of
course we also want to hit that target of $4,000.  This is a great
opportunity to make your donation count.  If we reach the Open
Challenge target, Global Giving will promote Camino Verde online.
(See the bottom of this e-mail to find out more about the Open
Challenge.)

Take advantage of this drive to support Camino's work in the Peruvian Amazon:

--We are just a few thousand dollars away from being able to purchase
an additional 100 acres of rainforest, where we will reforest around
20 acres of deforested land, and protect the remaining 80 acres of
virgin forest.

--We are working with a major timber company in Madre de Dios to
create a 1000-acre reserve within the company's gigantic timber
concession.  Camino Verde will manage and protect this 1000-acre area,
contiguous with our existing Private Conservation Area.

--We have just finished planting this year's first 500 trees!  And we
have plans to plant another 1500 trees on our land in the next three
months!

--We will once again be supporting the farmers of the Upper Tambopata
River to plant trees rather than slash-and-burn.  This year we will be
expanding to work with farmers in three communities, with a goal of
1500 trees planted on these farmers' lands.

These are just a few of Camino Verde's current projects.  Check out
our website (http://www.caminoverde.org/) to find out more, or "like"
us on facebook for more regular updates:

Thanks for your support of Camino Verde!  I will send out one more
e-mail in a few days, when the Open Challenge begins, to remind you of
this opportunity.  Donations are always welcome
(http://caminoverde.org/donate), but once the Challenge begins, I will
send out Global Giving's webpage for donations related to the
challenge.

All the best,

Robin Van Loon
