I wonder if you've read Robert Jewett, "The Redaction of I Corinthians and the Trajectory of the Pauline School," Journal of the American Academy of Religion Supplement 46 (1978): 389-444.  There Professor Jewett worked out the reasons why a redactor of several original Corinthian letters would have boiled them down to form the canonical 1 Corinthians.  See also the magisterial survey of partition theories of 1 Corinthians in Gerhard Sellin, "Hauptprobleme des ersten Korintherbriefes," in Aufstieg und Niedergang der römischen Welt II, 25/4 (1987); 1940-3044.  See also Gerhard Sellin, "1. Korinther 5-6 und der 'Vorbrief' nach Korinth," New Testament Studies 37 (1991): 535-58.
