In response to Fabrizio Palestini:

Ciao Fabrizio buono da parlare con qualcuno dall' Italia. Se desiderate
possiamo comunicare con altra una fuori-lista.

Fabrizio:

I do not find any soundness to any of these arguments. Personally, I find
the whole affair rather sad and reflects underlying assumptions on the part
of the researches. Assumptions are widely variant and controversial--list
members are likely to fall on both or several different
sides in what could become a very heated discussion. So, sound
argumentation should be based on historical evidence. Perhaps the single
greatest obstacle is the physical evidence found in papyrological remains
like that of P46, for example. Kim aptly argues a strong case that dates
P46 (P. Chester Beatty II + P. Michigan. Inv. 6238) to c. AD 81-96. (cf.
Young Kyu Kim. "Palaeographical Dating of P46 to the Later First Century,"
Biblica 69 (1988): 248-57). The conservative view of Comfort & Barrett
dates it to c. AD 150 (cf. Philip W. Comfort, The Text of the Earliest
Greek New Testament (Tyndale, 2000) 203. So, even if one were to opt for
the later dating to c. AD 150 it would necessitate that this evolution of
the Catholic redactors took place immediately. However, even more
devastating to this thesis is St. Polycarp's Second Epistle to the
Philippians (c. AD 135) in which he condemns Marcion? Now the greater
obstacle to this view is that St. Polycarp cites St. Paul beginning with
v.2. So, if St. Polycarp is citing St. Paul c. AD 135 how could it have
been physically possible for a pseudo-Pauline Corpus to predate this and
have been already redacted much earlier so that St. Polycarp is unaware of
it believing they are authentic? Moreover, P46 is an enormous stumbling
block for those who oppose St. Paul's authorship of all 14 epistles (Yes,
including Hebrews since it is in P46).

Cordially in Christ,
John
