You are addressing why attributin must not be required, not why it should be
forbidden.

Again, I am proposing 3 options.

For example:

1. CC BY-SA (attribution required)
1. CC SA (attribution permitted, but not required)
3. CC NOBY-SA (attribution forbidden)

I think a large project would work with either 2 or 3 but that 3 may
discourage some who are in it for the attribution. 1, as you say, could get
way too cumbersome.
