There are three ways to run Basiclinux:
1) from two floppy disks (hard drive is not used)

2) from a FAT16 or FAT32 partition in a 'loop' - this has not worked on a
few of my computers (older Gateway, for instance).  The initrd.gz file
contains instructions to mount -o loop the baslinux.gz file which contains
20MB of space when it is unpacked).  (I may have the names wrong).  This
can sometimes go wrong.

3) on a hard drive with linux ext2 partition, installed from either 1) or
2) - this usually works.

The floppy disks boot with lilo, the FAT (DOS) partition version boots
with loadlin, and the hard drive version boots with either loadlin (from
DOS) or lilo (from a boot sector on the hard drive).

I had two models of HP, one of which would not boot with loadlin, and the
other would not boot with lilo.  Did you boot from the hard drive using
loadlin or lilo?

Later linuxes boot with syslinux, isolinux, or grub.

Do you want to let the basiclinux list know that BL works from floppy
disk and from ext2 partition?  I wrote to you directly, not to the list,
and you answered me directly.

We had one very active member in Argentina for a few years but I forget
his name.
