Hi,
I'm new to BasicLinux. I can boot BL 3.50 (from bl3-50fd.zip) on an AST Ascentia P series laptop from floppy. I have installed it to HD (/dev/hda1). It boots normally from HD but right at the end when it has printed issue it hangs. It prints "...to activate cdrom/network/pcmcia." and then hangs. It does not print "Please press Enter...". It doesn't respond to any keys, except Ctrl+Alt+Delete (so it is not compleatly dead). However, I can boot from HD without hanging if I first boot from floppy and enter "hd root=/dev/hda1". This problem remains even if I do some changes to the startup script (/etc/rc). I also tried to install it to /dev/hda2, but the results was the same, so I don't think it is a disk error.

Any suggestion what I could try to make it boot from HD.

I have a CD-ROM unit I would like to use, but it fits in the same slot as the FDD.

(BTW I think it's great I can use this old laptop with the PCMCIA network card. The other small linux distributions i tried (Blueflops, DeLi Linux, and FREESCO) couldn't handle it.)
