Firefox archives only contain binaries for the i686 (Pentium II).
Firefox was first named Phoenix (through 0.5) then Firebird (0.6-0.7),
then Firefox (up to version 1.5 now).

I use Phoenix 0.5 and am happy with it. I also tried the
later Firebirds, but Phoenix was significantly faster.

Where can we get a Phoenix 0.5 binary that will work in BL2 with SW8.1 glibc (or SW71 glibc) on a Pentium I with 32MB RAM? Did you compile one?

Opera for Slackware 8.1 is about 6MB download and includes a mail program.

I also use Opera 8. It displays some pages better than Phoenix.
But Phoenix displays some pages better than Opera.

Cheers,
Steven
