That's not a good example, as the young man was
a priest to an idol, not to the true God. That is
brought out in both chapters 17 and 18.

If you want to talk about all priests, not just
those to YHWH, then there were no limits that they
are descendants of Aaron. But priests to YHWH were
limited to Aaron's descendants.

I still think that the word is mispointed: that the
K should be pointed as a prefix and the word is
related to HWN "resources", making it that David's
sons were put in charge of keeping track of the
kingdom's wealth.
