Yes. English "you" was once an accusative second-person plural pronoun
which was also used for polite singular address. In this function it
contrasted with "thou" but eventually replaced "thou".

Wasn't there a clear social distinction between 'thou' and 'you' in
the past, a distinction clearly retained in current German between
'Du' and 'Sie' ?
