I experimented with taking out the extra space. It broke a lot of unit tests that depend on the space. Not in an essential way, of course. I could just revise those several dozen unit tests as well. However, I do wonder if other peoples' test suites might also now be depending on this appearance. I'm thus inclined to leave the space in and accept the minor inconsistency; at least through 1.1; unless there's a massive hue and cry to take it out. :-)
