This really isn't any different than mapping any other XML model into a SQL database. The main thing is to remember that XML is not a table and not to make assumptions about lack of redundancy, no mixed content, insignificance of order that don't apply to XML. Rom Bourette's done some good work on this in a sort of generic way. See

It's based on DOM, but it does a pretty good job of treating XML as XML, including mixed content and order which a lot of other solutions punt on. I doubt it would be very hard to port to XOM.
