You can use the attached XOMXPath and DocumentNavigator classes with XOM 1.0d16 and Jaxen 1.0 FCS release.
JaxenTest.java is just a simple test tool.

PS: Xom is a great piece of software! It's the only XML parser I've tried
that generates sensible error messages when presented with erraneous XML
input.
