Dear friends (new and old) who are seeking to become more informed, more engaged, & wiser participants within an integrated, recovering transnational democracy:
In this modern times, questions about human fallibility vs. mechanical efficiency seem to cower under the paranoias in this modern age of surveillance capitalism. Have these ongoing innovations for “social networks” brought about change or progress (i.e. is it supporting our interpersonal connections with helping us achieve our goals)? If so, then why are the intersections between human learning and machine learning becoming increasingly disorienting? As algorithmic logic takes one path, while we follow the demands of economics (i.e. supply and demand).
It becomes more pertinent to consider the extent to which our legal systems’ rules, protocols, policies, procedures are supporting our needs as thinking and feeling beings who are coinhabiting the miasmas of organic, analog, and digital eco-systemic environments. Furthermore, this begs the question of whether we can learn to participate as informed, engaged, and wise global citizens in a transnational democracy?
If information, media, and technology (IMT) artefacts are our “teachers” (Don’t Make Me Think vs. Understanding by Design) then how can humans, machines, and everyone in-between (or beyond?!) support the emergence of shared moralities? When journalists seem devoted to reporting the ongoing strife in the religious capital of the world (i.e. The modern state of Israel) in ways that further perpetuate our impressions of it being the most conflicted piece of “holyland” throughout the histories of humankind; our normal yearnings for spiritual fulfillment get dismissed as lofty irrational delusions.
Yet we automatically follow the sagas portrayed by our storytelling traditions which validates the existence of some sense of “collective wisdom” as a vital piece throughout our rich ancestral lore. Artistic expressions (within the popular and scholarly zeitgeist) can serve as a social “barometer” as they offer various outlets for exploring the “growing pains” we endure throughout the human lifecycle as it is contextualized in the backdrop of our historical transgressions. They might be considered rhythmic behavioral “patterns;” as we test them heuristically throughout the mundane choices available to us as citizens in a consumer society. I fully recognize how I consider music to be a kind of “meta-religious” experience (since proselytizing isn’t truly “kosher”); because it offers ways to transcend the traumas that fundamentalist, foundationalist, and essentialist approaches to organized religion seem to invoke. Salvation doesn’t seem realistic; but solidarity seems minimally more approachable. And I was frequently reminded of this impact upon recently revisiting the music of Belle and Sebastian’s Stuart Murdoch for Dagger zine. I continue to argue how the popularity of video games supports the ways in which IMT artefacts are wise investments in “cultural capital;” yet unhealthy relationships with those resources are simultaneously substantiating our needs for better supporting “social intuitionism.” It is becoming more obvious that preparing for the post-endemic chapter of COVID requires elevating “Conceptual Age” skill sets.
As such, I would like to invite your support as a member of the homeless community in Western Massachusetts. It seems many of us feel like “NoHo Hates Homeless Ppl” as it was spray painted on an empty building (see picture below) which appeared shortly after we relocated to a new space on Industrial Drive East in January 2025; but we are still trying to show love to our new neighbors some love all of whom are invited to our BBQ Resource Fair next Friday, July 18 (see flier below)!

Thank you for considering this email; and please be patient as I continue to update and otherwise an ephemeral list of contacts! And as always, please be well!

Advocating for better consumer safeguards and sustainable
economic reform in the age of surveillance capitalism for "wising up" from rationality to morality in this emerging "Conceptual
Age."
Stopping the epidemics of misinformation, disinformation, & malinformation (propaganda)
from disrupting our information, media, & technology (IMT) ecosystems by
facilitating the effective, appropriate, & ethical comprehension/production
of IMT artefacts on our journeys toward integrative recovery & holistic
wellbeing.
Facilitating the acquisition of lifelong literacies, instead of reinforcing the perception that "natural vulnerabilities" are "permanent deficiencies," as a community of learners struggling to fight the onslaught of unhealthy messages generated by practices which condone/promote the exploitation of typical human fallibilities reinforcing the greedy, violent, and misogynistic approaches of a plutocratic tyranny who resorts to criminalizing, pathologizing, and otherwise blaming the victims of their wanton ludicrousness.
Alerting
consumers to the impact of numerous illusions and other deceptive
efforts that turn our individual differences into manufactured
deviations (and other forms of "learned helplessness"); thereby
revealing systemic injustices that are perpetuated by ongoing
inequitable power dynamics (i.e. colonialism) and other accessibility
barriers to the basic resources that support our universal human needs,
wants, & desires.
Building a taskforce of nonviolent communicators who are:
- Promoting an informed, engaged, & wise global citizenry and participatory transnational Democracy. (cf: listography)
- Elevating “Conceptual Age” skills (design, story, symphony, empathy, play, & meaning) in order to remedy the shortcomings of residuals from the preceding "Information Age" and "Industrial Age."
- Preventing media pollution, information disorder, & “techno-lust” from further disrupting our social, cultural, political, & economic ecosystems.
- Championing mindful “meta-literacies” (i.e. becoming adept bullsh*t detectives) involving the creation, selection, organization, presentation, diffusion, consumption, & preservation stages for "processing" IMT artefactual innovations.
- Adopting the principles of "Data Feminism": Examining power; challenging power; elevating emotion & embodiment; rethinking binaries & hierarchies; embracing pluralism; considering context; and making labor visible.
