Well, I started my fanzine writing career in 1993 and there were a lot of girls in the UK writing fanzines then. Mainly because of riot grrrl, but also, a bit because of twee and C86 I think as well...

Certain scenes and moments were enabling for women and girls writing fanzines, plus it was pre internet still then of course so it was zines and letters really.

?The irony is that, by the late 80s, and into the 90s, zines very much
became a female dominated activity, am I wrong?

I covered a NY zinefest in 2000 and it was mostly women.
