Well, "wowmen" was coined by Dafne and Noga, the two main organisers of the festival. The charm and wit of the word play really sums up the attitude of the project.

Oh and I have featured Wet Dog, Maria and the Mirrors and Phoebe Jean on my blog, have a search...

Thanks for the props Joly! You're pay-off is in the post ;)

Interesting! And a good excuse to check out your excellent blog:

Could you elucidate on the etymology of "Wowmen" ?

hi all - just a head's up about a festival I am helping to organize here in
London called MOTHER. It' a three day affair featuring female-led
punkindiepoprock bands happening from Thursday 20 May - Saturday 22 May.

The line-up includes bands that I am really rather fond of such as Wet Dog,
Maria and the Mirrors, Normal Love and Phoebe Jean & Kirikoo Des. Some of
the other performers are Molly Nilsson,  Iori’s Eyes, Mary and the Baby
Cheeses, The Konki Duet, PENS,  Kelli Rudick and Vera November.

Check the website for more info on the line-up and the whole concept behind
the festival: Join the facebook group for updates:

Hope to see you in May at the festival! Feel free to contact me with any
questions, requests or what not. And please spread the word!
