Some interesting films to be shown at the 24th LLGFF 2010:
An explosive introduction to the North American transgender music scene.
An explosive introduction to the North American transgender music scene, combining candid interviews with performance footage. Amongst those featured are Katastrophe, The Cliks, Trannysaurus Sex and The Shondes with music styles as varied as the participants' gender _expression_; from tender finger-picked ballads through rousing accordion sea shanties to screaming punk rock. In talking about their music, inspiration and lives the interviewees cover such topics as passing/not passing, how to cope with changing voices, audience reactions, coming out and the personal as political. The visuals are as exciting as the music, combining 16mm, Super8, video and stills. Riot Acts' enthusiasm is infectious - I wonder how many bands will be formed after the screening? JB

Ladies and Gentlemen...the Fabulous Stains
Rarely seen and deeply subversive tale of a trio of misfit teenage girls who start a band and go on the road with an aging metal band and British punks The Looters (Sex Pistol's Steve Jones and Paul Cook and Paul Simonon of The Clash). The Stains swiftly front their way to stardom with a winning combination of mouthy attitude and incredible hair, leaving a trail of empowered copy-cat punk girls in their wake. While not explicitly queer, the radical and feminist message The Stains offer has been a clear influence on the queer space Unskinny Bop have created. NJ'Where It's At' - Lesbo Pig
