We at K recently released an album (on both LP and CD) by the Beakers called
Four Steps Toward a Cultural Revolution (KLP163).

The Beakers were a Seattle band that existed from Jan. 1980 to Jan. 1981.
They played a few shows with Gang of Four and were hailed as one of their
favorite American bands; The Beakers also played shows with DNA, Delta 5 and
other NW bands like Blackouts. The Beakers released one single and had songs
on two NW compilations. Most of Four Steps Toward a Cultural Revolution had
not been previously available, plus live recordings.

The liner notes include testamonials from Jon King of Gang of Four, Roz
Allen of Delta 5, Kim from Soundgarden and others.
They were one of my fave bands of the time and really of forever.

There is a section of the K website devoted to all the writings about
Beakers, Blackouts and Mr. Brown records from the Sub/Pop fanzine, 1980-83:

We also released an album by another band from that time, Blackouts, History
in Reverse (KLP164).
