Well, I was finally able to get everything to compile.  Basically, all I changed was instead of using the default SMGL 0.9.5 kernel .config file as my base with some minor modifications for hardware when I compiled the kernel, I started from scratch.  My system booted much faster (since it wasn't loading all those modules I don't need like ISDN) and everything compiled without a problem.  I am using a Dell Inspiron 8500, and while I don't have the time or patience to find out exactly what was different in my configuration, I strongly recomend you start from scratch and when making a config file for the kernel.

Can you give us the errors that glibc, gcc, xorg, etc. are giving? If
your kernel can boot it /shouldn't/ be that. After you installed, did
you run `sorcery (set options, architecture, etc.); sorcery system-update; sorcery rebuild`?

PS: CC'ing sm-users (it helps when I use the correct list ;))
