Hi guys!
I've worked another night shift and came up with another testing/debugging
ISO.
I'm uploading it as I write to
http://download.sourcemage.org/iso/testing/smgl-0.9.4-i386-2.4.28-non-nptl-ng-test2.iso.bz2
(and will still be for the next 2-3 hours, so don't grab it until it's
fully there... That's why they call it "A"-DSL, I guess)
A few bugs have been fixed, such as the login/passwd problem
(shadow spell was to blame - it didn't touch /etc/login.defs once it was
there, so it did not get into the logs or the cache)
Also, some files that need not get copied got scratched out in the
installer code, and the 2.4.29 kernel got used now.
This is btw. code generated in a chroot and not on a dedicated system,
built for 2.4 while I'm actually running 2.6, special thanks to andrew
and his unamehack for making this work.
pcmcia-cs didn't quite like me, if anyone has hardware for it could they
please test if it works?
For those who like to watch errors pop up, I've added a 5 second delay
before the main menu jumps up so you have time to read the errors.
Other than that, I've tried installing a system with it and it didn't seem
to install grub properly (or at all), any feedback on why this does not
work would be greatly appreciated. I didn't try lilo yet.
So, please file bugs, and if you have the time, please try to find causes!
Most of them will probably be due to config files missing or the installer
misbehaving, I'd guess.
So Far,
Karsten
p.s: David, as soon as your modular installer is in a semi-working state,
I'll be happy to put it on the ISOs as well.
