At the risk of demonstrating my ignorance, I would like to take a few minutes
and praise Source Mage, specifically its regenerative properties.

Earlier today I was preparing for our local LUG meeting. One of the topics
of
the meeting was a demonstration of openmosix. So, I was doing a bit of
kernel compiling attempting to get my SMGL installation to run with the
openmosix patch (and a couple of other things like bootsplash). At one point
I determined that I needed to do some re-grouping, cleaning up and start
again.

That's when it happened. I thought I was changing to the /usr/src directory
when I only made it to the /usr directory. I did a quick directory listing
to see what was there and started deleting. Fortunately I realized my
mistake early, but not before wiping out the /usr/bin directory.

I am so glad we save our compiles into the /var/cache/sorcery directory.
Because of that I was able to repopulate the /usr/bin directory one package
at a time until I could get my system back to a semi-stable state and allow
me the opportunity to run cast --fix.
