ranlib comes from binutils, make sure you have that installed. Perhaps
doing a 'cast basesystem default-profile' will make sure you have the bare
minimum, though I usually do a 'sorcery rebuild' soon after install (after
getting NFS working so I can mount my global /var/spool/sorcery). Before
casting basesystem and default-profile, you may want to try 'cast -r -c
glibc', which might clear some things up. I am doing a 'sorcery rebuild'
currently from my system just installed from 0.6 ISO, we'll see how it
goes.
