not RPM based but it does have package management and starts with a minimun
install (iso is about 200M) you get your choice of
1) devel (cutting edge, but can bleed all over your computer)
2) test (more uptodate than stable)
3) stable ( tried and tested)
package management system is (console) menu driven and bash based so even
newbies can get under the hood of their computer. Many choices of
optimizations for your processor, a flexible dependancy system, md5sum and
gpg based verification of sources, adherence to LSB (whenever possible :-))
and a kickass support community make SMGL (SourceMage Gnu Linux) very
appealing.
