I'm fairly sure you'll need to run pretty much EXACTLY the same gcc (and
other packages) - so even a 'minor' update can brake the distcc

Max,

Make sure your "boot=" line in /etc/lilo.conf points to your disk, not a
partition.

Example:

boot=/devices/discs/disc1/disc
root=/devices/discs/disc1/part1

image = /boot/vmlinubz-2.4.18
label = linux-2.4.18
read-only
restricted

This means that you want LILO to overwrite your MBR on your first disk and
that my Linux root partition is on my first partition. The default (at
least for Source Mage installs) is to have boot set to a partition so that
your MBR is NOT overwritten, since some people have their own boot loaders
already there (GRUB, another LILO, Norton Commander, etc.).

If you are not using devfs, then the above would be /dev/hda and
/dev/hda1, respectively.

Hope this helps!
