Ok, I am still on glibc 2.2.5. But I will try it to see.

I had this problem trying to compile pysol, but fixed it by compiling
Python. The reason (IMO) is that, after upgrading to glibc 2.3.1, the
other libraries are still linked to glibc 2.2.5. So, I recompiled Python
to use the new glibc, then compiled pysol, and all was well.
In short, try compiling the root dependencies first, then move your way
up, so that they are all using the new glibc.
